I am nearly 46 and going through this process. Truthfully, I've never been more energetic and hopeful about my future. Granted, I WOHM most of our marriage. I do stress about the finances but when I think about all the things I had to negotiate away for him and take the backseat on everything . . . well, I don't have to anymore. I am reveling in the future. Travel, everything. Sure, it'd be nice to have a partner to do it with but he never wanted to do anything with me anyways. I was always lonely and at least now I'm bonafide alone but so, so happy. I wish you wonderful things. I do have down moments -- definitely find a terrific therapist to help you through. It is an incredible tough time -- not to be underestimated -- AND you have a lot to look forward to. You really do! [ Reply | More ]

Don't look at it as another mountain to scale, you can find a better way to view this. Take time to decide what you want your life to be. Discover what fun or pleasure or contentment mean to you. Practice thinking about what YOU want in the moment and the future. And seriously consider therapy. You're going through a big transition and look for all the help you can get. You can have a happy life. [ Reply | More ]

"The word “Renate” appears at least 14 times in Georgetown Preparatory School’s 1983 yearbook, on individuals’ pages and in a group photo of nine football players, including Judge Kavanaugh, who were described as the “Renate Alumni.” It is a reference to Renate Schroeder, then a student at a nearby Catholic girls’ school." Renate was one of the women who signed the letter saying Kavanaugh treated all girls with the highest respect. She didn't know about the yearbook photo. “I learned about these yearbook pages only a few days ago,” Ms. Dolphin said in a statement to The New York Times. “I don’t know what ‘Renate Alumnus’ actually means. I can’t begin to comprehend what goes through the minds of 17-year-old boys who write such things, but the insinuation is horrible, hurtful and simply untrue. I pray their daughters are never treated this way. I will have no further comment.” [ Reply | More ]

I really think Kavanaugh needs to step down now. Can you imagine his portrayal of his "innocence" if his own daughter was turned into the sport of the football jocks who decided to permanently enshrine their nasty behavior in the yearbook over and over again? That yearbook is REALLY bad. I didn't watch the Fox News interview but I'm guessing he presented himself as a choirboy? Remember sexual assault is about power. So is bullying. You don't trash a young teen by throwing her name all over your yearbook and turn her into a joke that you and your bro pals can laugh about for the rest of their lives. "Let's look at the yearbook at our 20th reunion - oh remember when we tried to ruin the life of that girl?" [ Reply | More ]

Yes. Make sure you are ok with how far it is, for us 2 hours was the farthest we would go. Make sure you are comfortable with the price point, so that it's not something you are sacrificing a lot for and feel pressure to use to justify cost. Maybe rent in areas of interest during different seasons to get a sense of what you really want/need. Make sure there are activities/destinations you like nearby, so you have things to do -- skiing, biking, hiking, whatever. Make sure there are basic stores reasonably close, if you have to drive more than 5-10 minutes to pick something up, that's too far. And once you have it, make furnish and decorate it in whatever way you prefer so that when you get there, you have everything you need and enjoy the surroundings. We got a mountain view, lots of trees, activities nearby, useful local stores, great farmer's market, 2 hours door to door, we can go for a day if that's all the time we can spare because of commitments in the city and it feels like a little vacation. We have muti-season clothes there so we don't need to take anything. DH likes it more than I do because I am more focused on the cost, and more of a city person, but I do enjoy it when I am there. We spent a week there, starting in Cardiff. Then visited several splendid castles including Caernarvon castle, Caphilly, Raglan and Conwy. You buy one ticket foe all the castles and the gift shop are terrific. Conwy was a lovely town on a tidal water feature with charming tea rooms and shops. Drove across the bridge to Anglesey and stayed at a B & B there. Then went to Aberwysweth, stayed at a guest house there on the harbor, which I loved too. On the Irish Sea, chilly and a bit rainy. Welsh cakes and curry. Driving through the country side was great fun especially since I traveled with a Welshman who knew everything. Couldn't have been a better, more scenic trip. [ Reply | More ]

But entitled white guys should be believed even if their friends write books, articles and tweet about how badly they behaved all through high school. And their friends should never ever ever have to be put under oath because their friends are also white and privileged and therefore their word is as golden as Kavanaugh's. Remember, if you believe Kavanaugh when he looks you in the eye and says about Trump "“No president has ever consulted more widely, or talked with more people from more backgrounds, to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination" you will also believe him when he says "I was never at that party that never happened." Obviously, Kavanaugh would never lie. That's why he told the American it was an absolute fact -- not an opinion but an absolute fact - that “No president has ever consulted more widely, or talked with more people from more backgrounds, to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination.” Under oath Kavanaugh explained why it was absolutely, positively true -- just as true as him never going to any party! Why would anyone ever doubt the word of the man who has already been certified by Trump himself to be just as honest as he is and treat women just as well! [ Reply | More ]
