[ - ] Holy HOLY crap. I randomly came across this cesspool of a website that seems to be... a pro-anorexia forum?! Without ever mentioning that the people commenting are INSANELY sick. They had a (real) picture of Emma Stone who looked extremely skinny (I won't say ill because I don't know her but... very very skinny) and all of the comments on the forum were to the affect of "if she just lost 20-30 more pounds she would look perfect." I almost threw up. I hope my daughters never come across something like this. The internet can be such a scary place. 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I had to do this recently. A few months ago I was really anxious and depressed and feeling sorry for myself. I realized I was spending too much time on instagram seeing everyones luxurious summers and no one was at work and everyone was living the life of leisure. I work full time and was having a pitty party. Had to change my whole mindset to focus on myself and my small world and stop caring what other people are doing. I also actively made more plans.. even small plans w my kids. It helped me to be proactive and make something happen for my family vs. sitting around looking at what other people were doing and feeling depressed myself [ Reply | More ]

I'm a nervous, shitty driver and didn't start driving until I was 31 and I haven't even been close to having an accident. What's he doing? Are these all his fault? Is he running stop signs, tailgating, busy on his phone? [ Reply | More ]

She's accomplished in all respects (ivy grad, great career, athletic, brilliant), but is also just an all-around solid person. She's warm, loving, caring, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love my son too, but he is immature and a little spoiled IMO. He does not have the same strength of character that my dd has, at least not yet. ding ding ding. NYC is a playground for men. Many of the men are super spoiled babies who won't settle down until they are almost 40. Its a weird phenomenon with DH group of guy friends. They are all early 40's, well off bankers and lawyers...only 3 of them are married and only 2 of them have kids so far, and those kids are all under 5. We are about to have #1. The rest play the field like they have nothing to lose and have a new gf every few months if at all. Sitting with them at dinner at the end of an evening and watching them all scroll though tinder type apps is gross. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Can someone explain how Anderson placement works in the lower grades? DS is currently in K and is 6yo. If he scores incredibly well on GT and by a miracle we get a slot at Anderson, would it be for the 1st grade? OR 2nd? 13 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

When did he turn 6? If 2018, he goes to 1st grade (2nd grade level curriculum). If 2017, he goes into 2nd (3rd grade level curriculum). [ Reply | More ]

This is all public schools in NY. Placement in K and 1st is determined by birth year and not grade he's coming from. It's done so people don't game the system, especially in G&T. And it makes sense. Your ds would have a huge advantage on the test if he were a year older than all the other kids testing for a spot. And since your ds will be testing for a 2nd grade spot, you can forget Anderson. Those are rare and if they do become available priority goes to siblings. You have 0% chance at Anderson. You may have a small chance at NEST. [ Reply | More ]
