[ - ] I just laughed really hard reading a post about someone's dh coming home drunk and the poster having a complete hissy over it. maybe I am too relaxed but I really do not think it is such a big deal if dh (or I) go out drinking once in a while. On occasion it happens, people have too much - who cares. It also cracked me up that half of the people responded assumed he was cheating or with a whore - really??? really??? 17 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

OP: As per my post above -- doesn't DOE understand that OLSAT doesn't work for NYC. I wonder what this year's strategy is to reach out to underprivileged kids. I think it is beyond the DOE's reach and abilities to reach out to underprivileged kids. It really is not a matter of the test itself. I think you are absolutely right (but the teachers recs where not reliable either and if a kid doesn't go to a preschool where should that kid get the rec from...) Even if you don't prep "very openly'' for the Olsat or Bracken test, a kid who goes to preschool and has very involved parents does better than a kid who goes to a bad daycare and the parents have to work two jobs to make ends meet. Blair house is a GUEST house, officially used by heads of states and other friends of the gov't. I think an incoming president would fall in that category. [ Reply | More ]

Blair House often hosts visiting heads of state - it is already a highly secure location. Much easier for the Secret Service (and cheaper for the taxpayer) to protect him there. Which is why presidents-elect and their families traditionally move in on January 15. They just asked to move in 10 days early so their kids could start school. [ Reply | More ]

Everybody sees through their own lens. I think it was churlish of the Bush's not to accomodate. It's not like the Obamas wanted to move into the White House early so they could start redecorating. [ Reply | More ]
