8pm bedtime at that age. 2 hour rule for naps. by 5mo though, we moved to the 9am/1pm/4:30pm nap schedule with 7pm bedtime. [ Reply | More ]

we were still all over the place at 3 mo, and at 4 mo dd stopped sleeping altogether - too young for crying, so I nursed to sleep when she was "ready." That still meant a bedtime between 10 and 11 pm. and sporadic naps. Things came together a bit more around 5.5 mo. [ Reply | More ]

I called the school, and the message said to call Jimmy Bueschen at DOE. There are rumors that some kids at our school have been called by the school, and about 1 mom w/ a kid at Lab, who supposedly has the list of kids who were accepted into Lab from our school, and is telling the parents who ask her. Not sure what is true, and what is rumor, but I hate this process. [ Reply | More ]

np: I feel your pain. My younger dc's school Principal said that the school got the middle school placement a few days ago. I checked with 5th grade friends and they said they did not get the letter or anything from school. Apparently, the school got a list. Insideschools.org said that the letter is coming out. Was UL your first choice? What is your second choice? Is it a test in school, like ESM or Salk? The parent coordinator at UL mentioned that if you get a call from your second choice for the admission test that means you did not get into your first choice. However, if your second choice is not a test in school, then it is hard to tell. GL. signed UL parent. [ Reply | More ]

OR: Apparently we are screwed. Did not get into UL, but got into MAT as second choice. Would have been great, except that no one told us that they were only going to test the 1st choice students for the honors program, so we are only accepted to the gen ed, which is not what we want. Luckily, we have a NEST acceptance, although that was our 3rd choice and we will of course appeal for UL. I know we are still very fortunate, but really frustrated with how little and inaccurate the information has been. Good luck to everyone else! [ Reply | More ]

I did not realize that MAT has a honors program. I thought it is one program. Good luck to your appeal. How was NEST middle school application process? Was it different from everything else so people could have more than one acceptance? [ Reply | More ]

That's the confusion about MAT. I think it is a great school, but they are very vague about their honors program. Other schools (like Baruch and Wagner) require you to list their SP prgrams separately, whereas MAT does not. NEST was a separate test (OLSAT, I think), and their letter came first, and is separate from the other DOE letters. Yes, you can accept there, and also your district school (not sure if this is also true if you are District 1). [ Reply | More ]

OR: I think he doesn't have the experience or plan. I think his expressed international policies are naive and not well though-out. I don't like his stance on immigration. He seems to have charisma for certain people who don't seem to think "in-depth" about what he is saying. I don't like that he would give up his Church for twenty years because of political pressure. I don't like his unconvetnional upbringing, frankly.....single hippy mother, etc. about whom he speaks very little, I don't like that, until recently, he was smoker. I don't like that his fans have little to say in his defense except that those of us who don't like him are racists. [ Reply | More ]

i agree with you about the "border security" rhetoric. but i always felt his stance on immigration was more progressive than clinton's and most people's. he seemed always to cushion the more conservative points with acknowledging that the strict lines with immigration are linked to xenophobia and that we can't be so fearful. how would this relate to his policies? i don't know, and i do agree that it is all rather vague. but i still don't get the fear factor of him because of this issue, and immigration has always been a strong point with me. ITA with this. The hospital stay was not relaxing at all. Nurses coming in and out whenever they please, doctors dragging everything out, etc. etc. The only advantage a hospital offers is the nursery for your child. But then if you have family around or a useful DH even the nursery is not much of an advantage. Get out of the hospital as fast as possible. [ Reply | More ]

bring your own maxi pads, w/out wings. yes, the hospital provides them but they don't have the adhesive and you will be slightly incontinent. if the pad moves you will pee everywhere. also, try and get them to give you an extra container of witch hazel pads before you go home. bring some pre-moistened facial cleansing cloths as well. you will be sweating your ass off and these will help you to freshen up and cool off a bit. good luck!
