[ - ] DD keeps asking for things, and when I give them to her, she freaks out and hits me and knocks down whatever it is (snacks, milk, etc). It is driving me NUTS. She is 2. The last time she did this, I swatted her on the arm, not enough to hurt her but I felt badly afterwards. I don't know what to do. I try ignoring her when she acts like this, but it isn't really working. 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Not sure if this is what you are experiencing but with both my dcs there cam a point where they wanted things a very specific way and they couldn't tell me what it was. I remember with my daughter it was a specific as put a specific green bean on the fork first, then a pee, and then dip in ketchup. All I can say is that it is frustration but they both out grow it and they learn to speak. [ Reply | More ]

this is me and my 1.5 y/o dd. she pushes me away when i try to hug her. she is exactly how you describe your 1 y/o, and was like that herself at 1. she's very strong-willed. she can be sweet, though...after she is rough w/me, like swatting me or scratching me (and i fake cry), she'll caress me and then give me a kiss. and then swat me again. when she is tired, she asks to be carried, and then puts her head on my shoulder. that's about it. We are on a pretty tight budget. We do what we can to socialize, but we also duck out alot. Go to a few dinners as a group but not any as they are expensve. We go to all their parties and never have our own but do have other families over. Of course I wish I could keep up with them finanically, but we are just happy to be out of the city for the summer and enjoy the beach and our family time.
