[ - ] two of my good friends had babies recently. i recently had a miscarriage. as far as i know, neither one knew i was expecting. I'm very happy for them. but here's what's bothering me. i usually would offer to make supper for them. but i sort of resent having their babies intrude into my home which has become an oasis for me. does that make sense to anyone else? 21 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

it's hard for me to explain. i'm having a pretty hard time since my miscarriage. a lot of up and downs but i'm handling it. i can go and smile and be happy for them. but somehow, making dinner for them in my own home feels intrusive. it's like it's not enough that i have to smile and say "congrats", it's making it be much more personal. so hard for me to explain. I think you pretty much know this is it. Since you're aware of what's bothering you why not pick up dinner and a baby gift. Drop them both off have a quick visit and you're done. I find sometimes conquering some of this stuff myself helps me gain perspective. [ Reply | More ]

that's usually what the people in my neighborhood do. usually people on the block plus other friends send over meals for a week or two. i think they'd be surprised if i didn't send it. and in theory, i want to send it. i'm just surprised at how it's turning out that i really don't want to. [ - ] a day in a life with a teen: dd was stressing this morning about a vocal performance that she has to present before 3 teachers in order to pass to the next level next year. I said, "You shouldn't worry. You have one of the most beautiful voices in your class." Her response: "How could you possibly know that?" This continue back and forth with me trying to shore up her confidence and her tearing apart what I said. Finally, I gave up and was silent. I used regular Tide, Bounty (?) fabric softener in wash and shout for stains. I also put bleach in with all whites and lights. [ Reply | More ]

No - I put a small amount in the bleach area above, not directly on the clothes. Is there an alternative that would work? I'd do it. [ Reply | More ]

What do you need it for? I would throw in a scoop of oxyclean before bleach. To me, bleach is last resort. Bleach works because it literally eats the fibers, so eventually it will wreck most everything. [ Reply | More ]

I keep Zout, Fels Naptha and an ink remover from the hardware store on hand. And once I've sprayed a stain I scrub it with a little firm bristled brush (probably for cleaning grout) I found in the cleaning aisle at the store. I can get 99% of stains out with this arsenal. [ Reply | More ]

the brazilian treatment has formaldehyde in it -- at toxic levels, which are beyond what FDA approves. looks good, but not worth the cost. [ Reply | More ]
